Medical Research
Thesis:
Resistant viruses will have a big negative impact on our health
“Health is a phase of perfect physical, social and spiritual well-being.” (quotation: WHO)
“Ebola haemorrhagic fever in the Republic of the Congo
Disease Outbreak Reported
24 November 2003, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of the Congo has reported a total of 36 cases, including 18 deaths, of Ebola haemorrhagic fever (EHF) in Mbomo (33 cases, 15 deaths) and Mbandza (3 cases, 3 deaths); villages located in Mbomo district, Congo.”
Today we have a big problem with infectious and viral diseases. And this in only the beginning. Medical research is very important for our life. Scientists think that resistant viruses will endanger our health in the future. Viruses can change their DNA so that they will become resistant to drugs and therapies. This is going to be a huge problem for mankind and our next generation.
What will happen to us in the future?
Will epidemics and diseases be normal in our future world?
What does “resistant” mean?
Many newly infected and untreated people with HIV are resistant to normal drugs and medicines.(taken from a scientists report)
If something isn’t affected by something it is called resistant. This means that a virus can become immune to drugs or medicine for example people with HIV are medically treated for many years. Although these people get the best therapy they have resistant viruses in their bodies. These viruses mutate so that they now have a resistant cell wall.
It is probable that viruses will change the cell’s membrane. Thus it will become resistant to drugs. The increasing resistance of virus is very alarming for scientists and doctors.
If more and more antibiotics are used to treat viral diseases, more and more viruses will become resistant. This would lead to more and more therapies becoming useless.
We also eat antibiotically treated meat and vegetables. Thus we become immune even through our food.
Many people fear that the recent outbreaks of epidemics are the so called “beginning of the end”.
Result
Every animal, every human being and every plant can become a victim of infectious diseases. Each species reacts in a different way. This infection is changing each time. The biggest problem is: Are viruses able to adapt most quickly to different treatments by becoming resistant?
Time is running out for scientists who work to find new and effective medical drugs.
The change of the living conditions and the hygienic circumstances are reasons why viruses cannot longer change their cell walls. By changing their cell wall the pathogens are protected against these substances which are used in treatments.
Scientists should be prepared to produce enough new drugs against resistant viruses.
In my opinion viruses can become increasingly resistant in the next few years because doctors distribute too much antibiotics and medicine against viral diseases.
New York, 2046
Latest outbreak of a fatal virus, which was identified as VirusX503
On the 17th of April, a 21-year-old man was taken to hospital. Medical tests showed that he was infected with VirusX503.
Two days later the man dies. New York was in panic. 501456 people were infected with CirusX503 in the next weeks. The hospitals were full of highly infectious people and medicines were not useful any more.
The viral disease spread throughout the whole country and countless people died.
6 months later Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia reported outbreaks of VirusX503, too.
The whole world was in panic because nobody knew an effective treatment. People thought that mankind would not have a future.
Again half a year later 85.034.691 people were infected and about 65% died. VirusX503 spread over the whole planet and there was no chance for a medical treatment. This virus was resistant to all drugs and medicines. Even scientists didn’t know a way out of this disaster. All scientific efforts were in vain.
Now all experts hope that there will be a natural cure for VirusX503.
People are advised to pray.
