The British began to found colonies in the New World in the early 1600s and by 1732 they had thirteen.Between 1754-63 Britain and France fought over land in America.In the end Britain won.After the war the British said that the colonies should pay war debts because they fought for them.But the colonists didn’t want to pay taxes because they weren’t represented in British Parliament.A few years later 4000 British soldiers have been sent to the colonies to suppress the riot of anti-British people.On march 5^th,1770 some soldiers have been hurt by signal rockets. After that  they shot into the crowed and killed five people.In 1773 the British passed a new law which said that only the East India Company could sell tea to the colonies. It wasn’t allowed to buy from other sources.The result was that the colonies throw the tea from the British ships into the Boston Harbor.In 1775 the colonists started to collect guns in Lexington.British soldiers was sent from Boston will the order to stop them.Paul revere was warning the people of Lexington and Concord.This was the first real battle of War of Independence. The battle left 247 British and 95 American  dead people.The colonists questioned in a list the rights of the British King. The reaction of the British was that they declared war. In 1783 Britain accepts the US Independence.George Washington was the commander of the American troops during the War of Independence.after the Americans had won their independence from Great Britain he became their first president.
