Racism

Definition

When you don’t like a person or a group that
for example has another skin colour, sex, age or nationality, you are a racist.

There is racism everywhere in the world. A few
groups that experienced racism were the Blacks, the Jews, the Japanese and etc.

Germany and the USA are two countries that experienced
a long history of racism, but they also improved themselves in this theme. The
racism in Germany was about nationality and in the USA about the external appearance.

Forms
of racism

There are different forms of racism, for
example:

- The
sexism, which the women are less worth than the men.

- The
social Darwinism, which rich people are more worth than the poor.

- The
National Socialism which for example in Germany the foreigners are less worth than
the Germans.

- When
a religion thinks, that it is better than the others.

Racism
in the USA

The racism in the USA began with the discovery of America in 1492. Because of searching for
cheap manpower, they abducted African slaves to America. The slavery ended only in 1865
with the American civil war, but the Afro-American were still suppressed by the
Americans.

In 1865 the Ku-Klux-Klan was founded by six
officers who lynched the black population. This clan exists until today.

The government made also laws which said, that
black and white people mustn’t visit together public buildings like schools or
restaurants. But the public buildings for black people weren’t as good as
equipped like for the white population. These laws were removed about 1955 because
the Blacks informed themselves about the American basic laws and pushed through
their rights. There were mass demonstrations and after a while there were final
equal rights in the law.

New generations are on the way to improve the
social problems of racism in the society, to create a peaceful live between
white and black people.

Racism
in Germany

Already in the Middle Ages there was racism in Germany. The biggest victims of this racism
were and remained the Jews. At the time of the National Socialism the hate on
the Jews was very strong and violently.

The National Socialism is so defined that
people are more worth than others. Besides, the National Socialists divided the
humanity into three races:

1. In the Aryan race.

2. In the Semitic race, for example Jews.

3. In remaining races, for example African or
Asian people.

The aim of the National Socialism was to hold
the high-quality Aryan race pure. They also made laws which forbid the sexual
contact between the races. The National Socialists also said that the Jews want
to destroy their race and so they had a reason to destroy them.

The destruction of the Jews didn’t happen at
once, but slowly and sure. It started with a seat ban and ended in a Concentration
camp, where they were killed brutally.

What
people think about racism today

Today we know that there are no different races
of people, but only one race of people. The genetic differences between
Africans with a dark skin and people with a light skin are little. They only
influence on the appearance. So it isn’t right to speak about people of
different races. Like the piano keys, are black and white – but they sound the
same… and play music the same.
