Alexi Laiho

My report is about Alexi Laiho.

He was born on 8^th April 1979 in Espoo, Finland. When he was a child he first has played violin for five years then he played piano, too. When he was 11 years old he began to play guitar. He began taking lessons at the Finnish Pop & Jazz Conservatory in order to study the guitar. He also studied the piano at this conservatory. Later he went to a band: “W.A.S.P“ (Heavy Metal).

He left school at the age of 16 because he wanted to concentrate on his guitar-playing and his band.

In 1993 Alexi and his friends Dustin Schmidt and Jaska Raatikainen founded the band “Inearthed“(Melodic Death Metal). Alexi was member of the band “Thy Serpent“ (Black Metal), too but he concentrated on “Inearthed”. Then “Inearthed” renamed to “Children Of Bodom“ and he left “Thy Serpent”. Furthermore he played with the bands “Impaled Nazarene“ (Black Metal) and “Sinergy“ (Melodic Metal).

In 2001 he left “Impaled Nazarene” and concentrated on “Children Of Bodom” and “Sinergy”.

In February of 2002 he married Kimberly Goss, front woman of the band “Sinergy”. Prior to the marriage, they dated for 4 years.

In 2003 he got divorced from her, because “things were not working out” as Alexi put it.

Now he lives in Helsinki and is the lead-guitarist and vocalist of “Children Of Bodom” and in his second band “Sinergy” he plays guitar, too.

Alexi’s favourite music is Metal. All his bands were Metal-bands. His favourite songs of his band “Children Of Bodom” are “Living Dead Beat”, “Are You Dead Yet?” and “Hate Me!”. His favourite bands are “Hypocrisy” (Death Metal) and “Shadows Fall” (Melodic Death Metal/Thrash Metal/Metal core). His main hobby is cars. He was taught how to drive by his father at the age of 10. Alexi owns a Pontiac Firebird, a 1974 Dodge Monaco and a Buick.

Children Of Bodom is a Melodic Metal Band. They gave about 60 concerts in Germany. And they are now in the USA and have concerts there. The next concert in Germany is from 3^rd till 5^th August 2006 on the Metal-festival at “Wacken”.
